Our Web Design Process

Building a website doesn’t need to be confusing or stressful. At Webling Web Design, we follow a clear, structured process for every project — whether you’re a small business in Nelspruit, a company based elsewhere in Mpumalanga, or anywhere across South Africa. From our very first conversation to the day your website goes live (and beyond), here’s exactly what to expect.

What Do We Offer?

Our goal isn’t just to give you a visually appealing website — it’s to create a powerful tool that actively supports the growth of your business. Every website we build is custom designed around your specific requirements, goals, and budget, never a recycled template.

To make sure we deliver the right solution every time, we follow a structured five-phase process. This keeps every project organised, transparent, and on schedule — so you always know exactly what’s happening and what comes next.

Phase 1

Assessment

It is important for us to understand your business so we can create a website that supports your goals and contributes to the growth of your business.

During the assessment stage, we take the time to ask detailed questions to better understand your website requirements. This helps us gain insight into your target audience, the most effective layout and design for your brand, and the functionality your website will need to deliver the best user experience and results.

This phase usually takes 1–3 days and involves a questionnaire to be completed to make sure we fully understand what success looks like for your business.

Planning the website

Phase 2

Planning

Once we have gathered all the necessary information, we are able to plan the layout, structure, and functionality of your new website.

A website proposal is then prepared and sent to you for review. We welcome your feedback and additional input to ensure that every aspect of your website requirements has been carefully considered.

Once the proposal has been approved and finalized, we provide you with a detailed quotation for the project.

This phase typically takes 3–5 days. We’ll never start building until you’re completely happy with the plan, so there are no surprises once development begins.

Phase 3

Design And Develop

Once the final proposal and quotation have been accepted, we begin the design process for your new website. We first create a sitemap and wireframe to plan the structure and layout of the website, which is then submitted to you for approval.

After approval, we move into development and start building your website directly on a live server. This means you can follow along and watch your website take shape in real time — rather than waiting weeks to see a final result. While we build, your pages stay off the main menu, so your site remains private until you’re ready to share it.

Once development is complete, you’ll have the opportunity to review everything in detail and request any changes before we move to launch.

Depending on the size and complexity of your website, this phase typically takes 1–2 weeks. We’ll keep you updated throughout, and you’re welcome to ask questions or request changes at any point along the way.

Phase 4

Launch

We build your website directly on a live server from the start, so you can follow along and see real progress as your site comes together — rather than waiting until the very end to see the result. Pages are only added to your website’s navigation menu once you’ve reviewed and approved them, so your site stays private and polished until you’re ready to share it with the world.

Once you’ve given final approval, we make your website fully public by adding all pages to the menu, and complete the final steps: configuring SSL security (the padlock icon that shows your site is secure), connecting your domain, and submitting your website to Google for indexing.

We also carry out a final round of testing across different devices and browsers to make sure everything works exactly as it should before your site is officially live for the world to see.

This phase usually takes 1–2 days.

Phase 5

Support And Growth

Your website launch isn’t the end of our relationship — it’s the beginning. We offer ongoing support and maintenance to keep your site secure, updated, and performing well, whether that’s adding new pages, updating content, or providing guidance on growing your online presence over time.

Many of our Nelspruit and Mpumalanga clients stay with us long-term for exactly this reason — a website is never really “finished,” and we’re here for the long run.

Frequently asked Questions About Our Process

How long does the whole process take from start to finish?

Most websites are completed within 1 to 3 weeks from our first conversation to launch, depending on the size of the project and how quickly content and feedback are provided. We’ll give you a clear timeline at the planning stage so you know exactly what to expect.

Ideally, yes — content and images specific to your business help create a more authentic, effective website. However, if you don’t have professional content or photography ready, we can guide you on what’s needed, source suitable stock imagery, or assist with copywriting where needed.

Yes. Before any development begins, you’ll review and approve a wireframe and proposal — this is your opportunity to request changes. Once development starts, smaller adjustments can still be made, though major structural changes are best addressed at the planning stage to keep your project on schedule.

Before your website goes live, you’ll have the opportunity to review everything in detail and request changes. We work closely with you throughout the process specifically to avoid surprises — our goal is for you to be genuinely happy with the final result before launch.

Yes. We offer ongoing maintenance and support packages to keep your website secure, updated, and performing well after launch. Many of our Nelspruit and Mpumalanga clients continue working with us long after their initial project for exactly this reason.
